Scope: US Code (federal statutes) via GovInfo USCODE collection.

Look up one section of a US Code title (e.g. 17 USC §105 = title 17 [Copyright], section 105 [Copyright of US Government works — the public-domain rule invoked in every response's license field on this server).

Endpoint: POST https://api.govinfo.gov/search (query: collection:USCODE AND "Sec. {section}")

Args: title: USC title number, e.g. 17 (Copyright), 26 (IRS), 42 (Public Health), 5 (Government Organization). section: section number as string ("105", "1983", "1a"). year: USC edition year. Defaults to most recent (2024). USC is published annually ~December.

Returns dict with heading (section title from GovInfo MODS), package_id (USCODE-{year}-title{N}), granule_id (USCODE-{year}-title{N}-chap{M}-sec{X}), date_issued, download URLs (download_txt_url for HTML text, download_pdf_url, download_mods_url for XML metadata), plus other_matches[] if the section appears in multiple chapters. original_url links to www.govinfo.gov/app/details/. License: US Public Domain. Requires US_GOVINFO_API_KEY.
